UBM004 Echo Park – Muchos Animales

Hot on the heels of last summers hit album “Can’t Help It” on UK dubstep don SKREAM’s label, mega ensemble group ECHO PARK strikes back via Brian Gibbs’ own label, Ugly Boy Music. The core element of beats by Brian himself are offset by the addition of Chilean beatmakers Nais Williams, Jo$e Spaace & east coast lyricists LIGHT and COR STIDAK. In the midst of a year full of musical gimmicks like pumping euro dance beats or dubstep wobbles, Echo Park seems to buck the trends and reinvent the classic format of golden age hip hop by adding a modern production twist a la Madlib or Flying Lotus. Pulling strongly from the competitive Chilean hop hop movement, “Muchos Animales” infuses the West Coast sensibilities of previous Echo Park outings with a deeper lyrical content and quirkier production based on off kilter samples and wonky drum programming.
“This time around there was much less emphasis on making the record easy to digest… It was more about speaking from the heart and making music we would be proud to dig up 15 years from now.” – Brian Gibbs aka Mr. Mcfly
Echo Park’s second album “Muchos Animales” will be released on Ugly Boy Music and available from fine digital retailers in May 2013.
